چکیده

A simple second order scheme is presented for BGK equation on cartesian grids to simulate rarefied gas flows. An immersed boundary technique is then used since the mesh is body fitted. The asymptotic preserving properties of the BGK equation discretization towards Euler limit are also investigated with emphasis on the boundary conditions as the Knudsen number goes to zero. Reconstruction techniques and levelset functions are used to modify the fluxes at the nearest interface of the body and enforce the boundary conditions at second order. The same method is applied in 1D and 2D cases to demonstrate its accuracy.

A gas-kinetic BGK scheme for semiclassical Boltzmann hydrodynamic transport

A class of gas-kinetic BGK schemes for solving quantum hydrodynamic transport based on the semiclassical Boltzmann equation with the relaxation time approximation is presented. The derivation is a generalization to the development of Xu [K. Xu, A gas-kinetic BGK scheme for the Navier–Stokes equations and its connection with artificial dissipation and Godunov method, from gas-kinetic theory, J. ...

A second-order BGK scheme for the equations of radiation hydrodynamics

We present a second-order BGK scheme for the equations of multidimensional radiation hydrodynamics (RHE) in zero diffusion limit by using the generalized Maxwellian in [1] and the second-order BGK scheme for the Euler equations in [2, 3]. This extends a (firstorder) kinetic flux vector splitting scheme (KFVS) for RHE in [1] to a second-order BGK scheme. Several oneand two-dimensional numerical ...

Accuracy of Discrete-Velocity BGK Models for the Simulation of the Incompressible Navier-Stokes Equations

Two discretizations of a 9-velocity Boltzmann equation with a BGK collision operator are studied. A Chapman-Enskog expansion of the PDE system predicts that the macroscopic behavior corresponds to the incompressible Navier-Stokes equations with additional terms of order Mach number squared. We introduce a fourth-order scheme and compare results with those of the commonly used lattice Boltzmann ...

A Gas-Kinetic BGK Solver for Two-Dimensional Turbulent Compressible Flow

In this paper, a gas kinetic solver is developed for the Reynolds Average Navier-Stokes (RANS) equations in two-space dimensions. To our best knowledge, this is the first attempt to extend the application of the BGK (Bhatnagaar-Gross-Krook) scheme to solve RANS equations with a turbulence model using finite difference method. The convection flux terms which appear on the left hand side of the R...

A new gas-kinetic scheme based on analytical solutions of the BGK equation

Up to an arbitrary order of the Chapman–Enskog expansion of the kinetic Bhatnagar– Gross–Krook (BGK) equation, a corresponding analytic solution can be obtained. Based on such a compact exact solution, a new gas-kinetic scheme is constructed for the compressible Navier–Stokes equations. Instead of using a discontinuous initial condition in the gas-kinetic BGK–NS method Xu [K. Xu, A gas-kinetic ...
